The World Cup Qualifiers resume on Sunday as Lithuania hosts England in Vilnius. England have eyes on finishing their World Cup Qualifying on a high by defeating Lithuania on their home turf.
As England has already secured their place in the World Cup, its an inconsequential match for them and same goes for Lithuania, who are not in contention anymore.
Lets jump straight into the team news.
Lithuania Team News:
Lithuania have scored only twice in their last six group fixtures and have a goal difference of minus 12. Manager Jankauskas has no injury-related worries ahead of the game with the English. So, the side that played on Thursday against Malta is expected to feature against the English. The key men for them will be their experienced defender Kijanskas who is expected to support the defence alongside Mikuckis and Vaitkunas while the goalkeeper Zubas will need to be at his best to keep the visiting side’s attack at bay.
Probable XI: Zubas, Borovskij, Mikuckis, Kijanskas, Vaitkunas, Matulevicius, Slivka, Gabovs, Novikovas, Cernych, Valskis.
England Team News:
Goalkeeper Jack Butland could be given a start vs Lithuania. Gareth Southgate’s team has already secured a place in Russia thanks to the Harry Kane’s late goal vs Slovenia. Southgate is set to give Harry Winks and Harry Maguire a chance to be in the playing 11 vs Lithuania and will use a 3-4-3 system.
Keane, Butland and Trippier are also set to start.
Probable XI: Butland, Keane, Stones, Maguire, Trippier, Winks, Henderson, Cresswell, Alli, Kane and Lingard.
